Friends and family who couldn't bear to see me struggle suggested that I hike the trail without the permits. I appreciate the concern for my well-being.
Before I left the monument at the southern terminus I checked the register book approximately 50 people a day ,every day ahead of me hiking North on the same Trail. Part of the permit process requires you to read and understand leave no Trace procedure. Including proper disposal of human waste. This Trail is very clean. Thank you Jack. And thanks to all of the passionate volunteers. I promise that I will do my part to preserve this pristine environment for future hikers
